Janice Gray has announced her Republican candidacy for Coryell County Judge. Ms. Gray has served as the elected District Clerk since 1999, where she earned accolades from her neighbors and colleagues for her fiscally conservative management of a large budget and office, and her extraordinary efforts to improve efficiency and communication between government entities. In 2010, she was voted “District Clerk of the Year” by her peers.
“Being County Judge should not be about politics. It should be about bringing our community together to make Coryell County an even greater place to live and raise our families. We can create an efficient and conservative county government that works together to solve problems. That’s what I’ve done as District Clerk, and that’s what I will do as County Judge,” said Gray.
Janice Gray is a native of Coryell County. She grew up on a farm as the youngest of six children, all of whom still live and work in the county. Janice began her life in public service in 1990 and was elected as District Clerk in 1998. She earned accolades from her neighbors and colleagues for her fiscally conservative management of a large budget and office, and her extraordinary efforts to improve efficiency and communication between government entities. She is running for County Judge to bring her proven, conservative leadership to the helm of our county government, solve problems, and stand up for taxpayers.
“I’m ready to bring no nonsense, conservative leadership to the Courthouse. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work for the taxpayers. When we all pitch in and do our part, instead of worrying about who gets the credit, we’ll be able to make great things happen for Coryell County,” said Gray.
Janice has been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville for 31 years, where she serves as the church clerk. She is a former board member and officer of the Exchange Club in Gatesville, and is a member of the Lions Club in Copperas Cove. She has served as an active volunteer with meals on wheels for at least 10 years. Janice is married to Dr. J.D. Sheffield, a local family physician. She has one grown son and three grandchildren.
